<p>We all love cars! We all have a favorite car and car manufacturer. Some people dream of Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari 488 GTB, Bugatti Chiron types of supercars, while most others, (including me) dream about Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger SRT, Honda Civic Type R, Toyota Supra, Subaru Impreza type of cars. Whether we buy or not, we search for more details about our dream car/ car brand on google. </p>



<p>Made in Japan cars are popular all over the world. Based on google search data, here I have analyzed the most popular Japanese car manufacturer and the popularity change over the years (from 2010 to 2020).</p>



<p>Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Suzuki, Mazda, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Daihatsu, and Isuzu are the most famous automobile manufacturers from Japan but in this analysis, I only selected the most famous 6 brands over the 10 years. We all know them even by their logos. </p>

<p>As per the data visualization video, Honda is the most popular Japanese car brand in the world. If you look carefully, there&#8217;s a popularity peek for Honda between June &#8211; September of most years. Also, slightly peek between March-May. You can understand it with the below chart as well. </p>

<p>After carefully analyzing the search quarries, we found that most of the following events happen between June to September each year from 2010 to 2019. </p>



<ul><li>People look for next year&#8217;s model (upcoming model) details during this period. </li><li>Release/ Introduction of a new car model  &#8211; <em>Eg. <strong><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Mobilio" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Honda Mobilio</a></strong>&nbsp;introduced in September 2013 and this caused the slight peak</em></li><li>Announcement of newer models and the motor-shows</li></ul>



<p><em>In the year 2020, the popularity of each car brand has dropped due to the world covid pandemic and due to lockdowns in most parts of the world.</em> </p>



<h4 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Which part of the world and in which country do Honda most popular? </strong></h4>



<p>It&#8217;s not the USA or the American region. It&#8217;s Indonesia and the Asian region. </p>



<p></p>



<p>Here we focus on the most popular Japanese car brand, which is Honda brand but the same analysis can be done on all other brands. </p>

<p>With the introduction of the Apple iPhone series, companies identified that so-called smartphones are not really smart anymore. From 2002 to 2012, Nokia was the market leader. Their Symbian OS had its limitations but the company rejected to compete with Apple with similar technology or tie-up with booming android OS.  </p>



<p>Below graphical analysis will show how the Mobile phone market share (world) varies from 2010 to 2020 and how Nokia lose the game over Apple and Samsung.</p>

<p>Samsung manufactures a whole range of mobile phones targeting various audiences while Apple is following the broad <a href="https://www.monash.edu/business/marketing/marketing-dictionary/d/differentiation" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">differentiation strategy</a>.  </p>



<p>Apple products are more expensive but there are Samsung products (Samsung Galaxy S series and Note series) developed to compete with the high-end customers while Samsung has introduced a low cost and medium cost mobile phone series for all types of buyers. (Samsung A series, M series, J series and etc.) </p>



<p>If we select the same data and filter it with a rich country and a medium-income country, the target audience gap can be easily seen. </p>

<p>Australians have more disposable income, therefore they are using Apple products. </p>

<p>In a Market like Sri Lanka, the Samsung is the market leader while Apple phones are having below 10% of market share. </p>



<p>One important fact can be noticed from all three visualizations. The Chinese budget mobile phone manufacturer, Xiaomi is boosting its market share with a shorter period of time in all three visualizations. </p>
